Olivia woke up, and found herself starring at the ceiling, “today’s the day”, she thought as she began to get out of bed. She was all packed and ready to go, but she was still not happy about going.
She was a bit disappointed that Brian and her were not able to meet for lunch yesterday, but she kind of expected that. They only spoke briefly last night because he had to go to his parent’s house to help his mother with her computer. He was by no means a computer wizard, but he was more knowledgeable than both his mom and dad when it came to computer matters!
Olivia was thinking about the other night when Brian came over and how special he tried to make the evening. It was a very nice night and she was glad he had come over. She was still upset though for having to miss their anniversary because of the business trip.
Up until the other night, Brian and Olivia had been fighting and arguing about stupid little things that didn’t matter. Olivia thought being away for their anniversary wasn’t going to make things any better. With a quick bite to eat, and a cup of tea, Olivia grabbed her luggage and purse, and was out the door on her way to the office.
She was working half a day today and that would allow her the time to get to the airport. She reached her office and was happy to see her staff was all there on time! Walking over to her desk, she noticed she had a message. After quickly dialing in her access code, the message began to play.
“Hey, it’s me. I think we need to talk, but I guess we’ll have to wait until you get back. I don’t know if I’ll see you before you leave, so incase I don’t, have a wonderful time experiencing new things. Love you, bye.”
Just as she was hanging up the phone, Keith walked over to her desk.
“Here are your tickets and hotel vouchers, are you all set?" He asked.
After thinking for a moment, Olivia responded, “I’m as ready as I can possibly be”.
The day seemed to fly by, and before she knew it, the car was waiting outside to take her to the airport. Olivia sat in the car and just watched the landscape of New York City pass her by. Finally, she arrived at the airport and the driver helped her with her things.
Olivia checked her bag and herself in and had made it through security with no trouble at all. She had exactly one hour before departure and she sat in the terminal patiently waiting. The idea of calling Brian kept drifting in and out of her head and she finally decided to try calling his cell phone. The call went immediately to voicemail, so now she was thinking of a good message to leave.
“Hey you, sorry I missed your call earlier. Thank you for your well wishes, and I'll see you when I get back. Love you too.”
She hung up, and had another 10 minutes before she could board.
The way her flights were set up, Olivia was sitting in Business class on the way to Paris and she would be in economy class from Munich back to New York.
Olivia boarded the plane and took her seat. With ample legroom, and big comfortable accommodations, she made herself at home and prepared not only for her flight, but for the days ahead of her as well.
As the plane took to the sky, Olivia closed her eyes and let her mind drift off to thoughts of Brian, and what he wanted to talk about, her trip had barely begun and already she was wishing she was on her way home.
Now in flight and quite comfortable, Olivia began to dream. Images of her and Brian watching The Sound of Music was the focus of her thoughts. The song Eidelwiess echoed throughout the dream.
As she slept, plans were in motion and soon she would discover Brian's secret. |
