Chapter 9

On the Right Track?
Twelve total strangers set out on an incredible journey. They each had one clue to help them reach their next clue. At this point in the game, they had to work together to get to the finish line first.

Wings to Win, the air team, stepped on another airplane after waiting for the next flight departing to Paris. They figured that the next clue was somewhere in Notre Dame. They had not exactly figured out who the professor was, but were sure that once they reached the cathedral, they could find what they were looking for.

The four air team members sat on the plane. Jack Love was the captain of the air team and was taking this clue very seriously. Not surprising, he was the one to lead the team to victory! He sat, listening intently to a conversation taking place in the row behind him.

Directly behind Jack was an elderly couple, boasting about their travels so far. Apparently they were planning on being in Europe for an entire month. In a week's time, they had done so much already! Jack, continued to observe the conversation. At one point of the story, he began to realize that his team was headed to the wrong country.

Back in Dublin, the car team got in their car. All secure and ready, they departed for Cork. It was a bit of a drive for them, but they needed to get to the port to take a ferry from Cork to Roscoff France, from there, they planned on driving to Rome. This trip was going to take a bit of time.

Drive to Survive reached Cork after driving about 160 miles. The ride lasted about 2 hours, but seemed like an eternity! They boarded the ferry after getting their tickets and reservation for them as well as the car. Once checked in, they took their seats for the 12 hour ferry ride.

Meanwhile, the Railroad Warriors were headed for England. Jeff was leading the team and they were keeping their fingers crossed that they were on the right track. Their ferry would arrive in Holyhead in approximately an hour and a half. From there, they would need to hop on a train to their final spot, the spot where they hoped they'd find another clue awaiting them.

While on the ferry, the four rail team members had a nice meal, after all the travel they had done so far, they needed to get some food into their systems! They found a hamburger shop on board the ferry where they tried to figure out what to order.

Ainsley, the youngest member of the team, was having a hard time finding something on the menu.

"We have food like this back home in just about every fast food place, what seems to be the issue ordering here?" Sebastian asked.

Ainsley replied "well, back home it is more clear what you're eating. I've heard from several people that European fast food uses strange animals to make their hamburgers and stuff."

Sebastian, along with the other two team members all laughed. They assured Ainsley that they weren't laughing at her, rather the situation. To put her mind at ease, Jeffrey approached the counter and asked what their hamburgers were made from.

The clerk got a case of frozen burgers from the back and showed it to the four. As they looked at the case, everyone but Ainsley began to laugh once again. On the box, was a picture of an animal, it appeared to have the body of a horse, the head of an alligator, bunny legs and a curled tail like that of a pig. "100% natural ingredients" was written above the animal.

After seeing Ainsley's face, the clerk realized that she was a little sensitive about it, and he removed the paper.

"Aww, no harm done I hope, tis just a joke!" he said to Ainsley, who was very much NOT amused.

The clerk continued, "we use the finest beef you can find and have received several service industry awards for our food."

After all of the amusements at the fast food place, the four had ordered their meals and took a seat to enjoy their food. They were discussing their game plan and what to do upon arrival. They figured out where the rail station was in comparison to the ferry port. All they needed to do was hop on the train and be whisked away to the city that held the next clue.

While on the ferry from Cork to Roscoff, Patrick was doing some further research on Notre Dame. He discovered that this is not where they would find the next clue. Frantically he got his team together to break the bad news to them.

"We've now spent so much time heading to the wrong destination, is that what you're telling me?" Jenna asked.

Patrick tried his best to keep everyone calm and under control.

"Yes, I'm afraid that is what I'm saying. The good news is though, I think I know where we do need to go." Patrick replied.

Once they arrived in Roscoff, they would need to drive to Calais where they could take Euro tunnel to Folkestone. From there, they could drive to London where Patrick was sure they would find their next clue.

Unfortunately, after the mishap, Patrick was having a hard time trying to get his team motivated as they were before. They were not rebelling against his leadership as they realized they were all responsible for the blunder, however, they were upset that they had already put so much time into their travels and they were going the wrong way!

Jack too, broke the news to his team that they were going to the wrong country. The team was also upset but were right back on track when they landed and boarded yet another flight, this time to London.

Now that all teams were headed in the right direction, it was time to see who would get there first to find the prized second clue...
