The Atomium (Belgium)
This fascinating structure dominates the Heysel Plateau in Brussels. The Atomium was designed and erected for the World's Fair, that took place in 1958. It was not expected that the structure would endure the exhibition, let alone remain for more than 50 years after. It has, however, become an icon for the city of Brussels and well-worth a visit. The Atomium can be reached via metro from the Central and Midi stations. Just get off at the Heysel - Heizel stop.
